Spent the last few days writing up the quotes into my own words or just quoting in general. I can safely say that the literature review is now at the required length however it could probably do with a few new iterations. The big Issue being picking the write to topics that will address my Aim and Question. Hopefully later this week ill be able to get some feedback on this current draft.
One of the latest problems current plaguing my mind is still my aim, methodology and introduction. Earlier last night I reached a point of trying to put my thoughts into a flow diagram mostly because i know that when it comes to explaining my project or what I'm trying to do ill do a terrible job and it will be misinterpreted.
So the Diagram is meant to explain, That i plan on creating a break down of my character in the form of character analysis/Back-story ideally generating the theoretical personality, thinking and values of my character (Mary and Lilly). This should then feed into the automatic value response of those character (In other words EMOTION) from there. Using acting and animation methods that actively display traits of emotional/personality have my characters act, react and interact under diffrent contexts, circumstances and atmosphere. Ideally that emotion and personality will be interpreted or informed into the viewer allowing them to relate to the character analysis.
During my presentation i made mistakes in describing what i was trying to do so i feel now with this all said i should try clarifying it.
I am developing at least two characters Their background story will define who they are and how they would act for example: Mary is never subtle she moves and performs in an exagerated and extreme level. There for no matter the circumstance or situation he movements will be broad the only exception of this would be under the tense of sneaking but she will not be practically good and it adding a comedy factor to the situation.
Moving on... This character analysis creates rules at which the character must abide by if she doesn't she looses believe ability and the audience will loose empathy for he. The automatic value response is how she draw conclusions based on her life experience, up bringing ect. (An example will be how do you emotionally respond to situations? its liked back to your "Values" Not mine... YOURS!)
So... So far we have a character who has a personality and is staying true to their character interms of thought. Next is taking those Thoughts and Emotions and Showing them. But how ? Michael Chekhov is an Example. Using his Equations Quality + Action = Emotion. The example of this is
Instead of using Emotion like "Angerly" use the word "forcefully" instead. By doing this you create an intensity... forcefully = a fast action(timing) with power behind it. (an amount of Effort). Action of course is the doing and acting part. So The character Forcefully Slams the desk over "The character Angerly Slams the desk". The question here is which produces a result ? That would require physical experiment. from my own view i prefer Forcefully over Angerly as i directly feel myself adopting the facial expression of anger when i consider slamming my hand against the desk.
But now from here... Things need to be put into a circumstance/ Context or Atmosphere. Without this last part you don't have personality. Instead You and Me are just randomly Slamming our desks and anyone watching us will be like WHAT THE HELL !.
Thanks for listening :D
Edit..
Also How to apply it to animation
Mirrors/ Video recordings or repeatedly slamming that desk to "stay in the moment".
from there you can Adopt the character the necessary Body postures, Facial expressions, Psychological gesture/ Normal gestures, The Rhythm and timing along with the power center in which all this attitude comes from. But of course this part is only in theory and Nancy beiman says that animation cant be based only on theory it a mater of experience and doing.
