Progress Report
3D Animatic
So as state earlier
in my progress presentation review of Crit week, I state about having made A 3D
version of my animatic. The advantage of this was it block out the very key position
and action the character were making. It also help with the Timing of my animation along with
how well it communicates what is happening. As I not updated the blog for a
while I will be posting a few videos showing the progress of the Honours project.
Below is the 3D Animatic.

Mary's Jump on the
bed and fall
The following week, I began focusing on filling in the poses
of the Animatic using a Blocking method. for this week the goal was to block
out Marys, jumping onto the bed and attempting to gain Lilly attention. during
this time I was aiming to take advantage of the use of weight in Marys
movements, This was later shown during my supervisor meetings and we discussed
the adjusting the positioning of the legs. The video below Is the Updated
version,
Video:
The Next again I
focused on Marys movements when she turns herself around on the bed however the
action is allot more complicated than the animation iv done before. So I asked
my sister if she would mind me getting reference
footage of her conducting this action. I originally attempt to just act out the
scene myself and remember the actions I took. This was a disaster as I was
focusing on the action to much and was putting my body in position people would
not actually do in that situation. For example, As I turned I managed to have
the weight on my shoulders and face. (Imagine a Break dancer as they spin on
their head. Below is a few play blasts of the animation which I showed for my
meeting for that week.
Videos:
We decided that the camera angles weren't the best for this action because they were not
serving and justice toward what she was doing. Another not was from the first video her body began floating
because we could not see her legs or how here weight was being adjusted. This
lead into an awkward stutter in the action because I was attempting to show her
weight shift forward. We also pointing out that in the reference footage the
adjustment my sister made in order to get comfortable was crucial to include in
the revised animation. Below is the revised animation in which I focus her
weight on one side of her body as she adjusted her legs to show where her
weight was. I then looked back toward the reference for the adjustment of the
body.

Lilly's reaction
Between the 8th and 15, I focus went into my dissertation.
However, I wanted to make sure I at least got some animation done. I decide to
work on One of Lilly's movements as it
was mostly her reacting to the actions Mary as previously done. I attempted to
focus on using Eye accessing cues which display with the eyes what part of the
brain the character is accessing as it was a method found during my research
for showing internal thought. However, there were parts I was suggested on
adding and removing to make the action more believable.

Lilly going through
her bag
As last week focused mainly on the dissertation and I got
little animation done this week leading up to day focused on animation again. However, I also made time to
address my case studies. So below, I have focused on a little more of Marys
actions but this was to lead into Lilly's action. Sadly this animation is still
to be reviewed while with my supervisor, So there may be adjustments later,
This animation also is using make shift
props so I could focus on the movements and then later ill make the props and
bind them correctly as I refine the animation out of the blocking stage.
Video:
during this week the focus is to get Mary and Lilly
interacting together, For this i have to had the console to Mary and then have
Lilly climb onto the bed, After this has been done I can then go back and
refine the animation as only small actions are left to be animated.
Other Incoming updates,
Other than this area I have
started focusing on the image I wish to
apply to my business cards. There
is also the matter of my case studies which require some refinement however are
developed and complete enough for me able to talk about what I have learned
from them and their merit.
