Idea 2 & 3
So after the slump from the attempted to create some concept art, The fun joy of playing music brought
the second idea. The story follows a
character who wakes up in a white room questioning what is happening. Looking around and examining the walls they
are unable to find a way to leave causing them to drop down and hug their knees
before burying their head in their arms.
After a few moments an opening appears in the wall which the character quickly pursues.
The next part can have multiple version depending on the feeling
I want to invoke. what they all have in common is it involves the character
walking down a corridor and seeing scenes of them self on the wall.
- The character see's the possibilities of what they could become. (Lost and trying to find a future)
- The character see's different sides of them self and how they acted. ( Happy, Anger, Sadness...)
- The character had no idea who they were when the woke up, As they are walking through the corridor they are view a range of personality's which they will pick from. (This Is Me)
(Idea 2 Sketchbook)
These are the Video's and Songs that inspired this idea
- Thought of you - by Ryan Wood Ward - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBk3ynRbtsw
- Thought of you Making of - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tkgg5OBdPlU&feature=relmfu
- Treasure Planet - I'm Still here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMGXq9_IQBQ
- This is Me - Demi Lovato - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpBeGJjGMNs
I find these songs carry a strong emotional attachment and
of course are interpreted by people in different ways depending on their own
circumstances. So here is my view point, After failing to draw some characters my
creativity stopped and I was wonder to myself where should I go now my mind is
blank. So I decided to listen to some music which spouted this idea.
(Sketchbook - Concept Attempts)
The page which i was working on and that caused all the fuss. The humanoid character is far better than what i was accomplishing digitally but is nothing like the character i had imagined. On the other hand the character i enjoyed drawing the robot and thinking how it frame would look. The main reason i stopped was due to the consideration of what i want the robot to be able to do and act. This will be the next stage of planning if the the first idea moves forward.
Idea 3
The 3rd idea is entering the realm of the story worked on
for a while now. At the start of the year I had accepted that perusing the
story and creating an animation from it would be undoable because of its scale.
Earlier today I was thinking Why not aim
for featuring the characters and their personality's.
The first Concept for this was derived from imagining
what one of the characters would be like talking about the other and discussing
the kind of situations they have both been getting into. The best way to probably
describe the idea and approach would be as a movie trailer. Take both
characters and isolate them in scenes in which something interesting happens.
Though, in my context the moments in which the character show a strong sense of
personality.
I took some time to find videos that resemble the approach I
wish to take. However, by finding these and viewing them they feel more towards
references than inspiration.
- Meet The Scout - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geNMz0J9TEQ
- Meet The Sniper - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NZDwZbyDus
- Tangled - Wanted "Flynn Rider"- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJumqNaSl1Y
- The Incredibles Interviews http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwHlyurv-0U
Meet the sniper &
scout have great features of showing the character personality's through
voice and animation. They describe themselves with pride and they body language
also radiates that.
(Team Fortess 2 The Scout)
Tangled - Wanted
"Flynn Rider" Demonstrates storytelling through a process of cut sequences
which involve asking a question and then showing a relating animation. After
watching it those who didn't know Flynn will have a better view of who he is
and how he acts.
(Flynn Rider - Tangled by Disney)
The Incredibles
Interviews would be the closest
example I could think of toward this idea. You see the cast of the movie speaking
during an interview while the scenes from the movie are connected to what they
are saying.
