Initial Project Idea & Previous Research Question
Before this first week of University I had established a
research question but as the week progressed this question began to feel limited.
The question was
"How can gestures and timing be combined to manipulate emotion intensity".
At the time this question felt appropriate
because it was an area I wished to improve in and from previous projects I felt
my character lacked in emotion. I also felt the characters movements were in
some way too robotic and systematic. Essentially my characters lacked the same
feeling and drive as the characters I admire and strive to achieve.
Moving on.....The videos Easel to Weasel Along
with Ice Age 3 Walk the Dinosaur also helped to sprout an idea for an
animation taking into consideration of using expressive characters along with
the use of multiple characters to feature personalities.
Initial Idea
The plot follows an Inventor in their workshop in the process
of their next project, They are then disturbed by a small companion seeking
their attention. After being pushed
aside the little companion begins to get up to mischief while exploring. As alarms begin sounding off the Inventor is
sent in a frenzy to undo what the companion has done before an incident occurs.
This plot can still be developed more, In which how exactly
it will end along with swapping the rolls, Having the companion has the true
Inventor while the one who think there are the genius is actually screwing up
the equipment. The idea in general will allow me to take a comedy approach and
feature the characters reactions and movement.
Personal
Development
I have already identified problems in my skills or confidence
which will hinder this or any project which
involves the creation of my own Models and Rigs. At this Stage I
feel I lack the confidence in generating character models and rigs which are
fit for my animation ideas.
Possible Solutions would be:
To make the aesthetics and style of the animation in lower
detail allowing more time to experiment on the design of the rig.
To use an sourced rig & model the
environment like on a previous project (However I would prefer to have all the
work as my own).
