Week 1- Concept Development/Personal Development

Killing the Panic, Starting the fountain of Inspiration and Idea

So after our first meeting with our group mentors, I have decided to take on the advice of breaking down ideas and thoughts into questions. I decided to apply this technique on my current interests of Animated Films, Photo Realistic films, Novel Books and Anime/Manga Series . This process has allowed me to identify what  draws me into their stories and how they hold my attention while causing me to crave more.

Action Points:
  1.  Research into character animation
  2.  Review characters in films for ideas.
  3.  Write up ideas and question their value.
  4.  Begin this Blog.
At this stage, I find that Animated Films such as "Tangled" by Walt Disney Animation Studios, "How to Train your dragon" by DreamWorks Studios and the Ice Age series by Blue Sky Studios have some of the most engaging and expressive characters.  That being said this is not an extensive list but a small example of some of my favourites animated movies.

While on the other hand  Anime/Manga  such as  "Sword Art Online" by Reki Kawahara,  "The Horizon In The Middle of Nowhere" by Minoru Kawakami have engaging and sometimes complicated Plots. Often to a degree that my current list of animated  films does not achieve.

This being said, Novels fall between these two categories, The stories being amazingly immersive with characters which you quickly engage and get attached to. However, At this time I could not conclude a reason to why Photo Realistic films manage to interest me. This I assume to be due to visual appeal or visual effects.

Conclusions
Though I have managed to identify where I can expect to generate inspiration and ideas, I am still block towards making a start generating drawn concepts. This I must address by first identify what in character animation I will study along with what I wish to create for the final submission of this year.
